A Rake’s Progress<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

David Hockney used several different media to engage with William Hogarth\u2019s pictorial cycle A Rake\u2019s Progress<\/em> (1732\u20131734). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the 1975 Glyndebourne Festival in East Sussex he designed the stage set for Igor Stravinsky\u2019s The Rake\u2019s Progress<\/em>. Hockney\u2019s stage set is linear in composition and seems like a huge etching. The angularity of the forms corresponds to Stravinsky\u2019s modern composition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
